Torus EYEs_Jitter/Max/MSP
Program Language
Jitter/Max/MSP
Date
Dec 2023
Location
Boston, MA
Project Type
Music Generated/Controlled 3D Video | Multimedia Project
This project was programmed in Max/MSP/Jitter (a visual programming language for music and multimedia). There is a sampler plate that can randomly select different parts of pre-produced music with varying lengths. The video consists of four parts: an algorithmically generated motion background; manipulated colored pupils generated and programmed from different selected video clips; an algorithmically generated torus shape that can be manipulated by sound waves and other parameters controlled by the keyboard, with the core part of the torus being dissolvable by sound waves; and a program-generated collection of interconnected toruses, whose size, shape, position, and color can all be controlled. These parts combine to create a 3D video whose dissolution, brightness, size, transformation method, and transformation speed can be controlled by various properties of the sound, such as amplitude, speed, and sound waveforms.
